On 16th June 2026, the partners of the Erasmus+ NEEMA project gathered in Helsinki for the project’s Steering Committee meeting. This meeting marked an important milestone to review the progress of project activities and prepare for the strategic implementation phase leading up to the project’s completion in January 2027.

Bringing together representatives from the European and African partner institutions, both in person and online, the Steering Committee reviewed the progress made across all project work packages. Each partner responsible for a work package presented the status of the activities under its responsibility, the results achieved so far, and the actions currently underway.

Among the main strategic topics discussed were:

  • The finalization and forthcoming launch of four pilot training programmes developed by the German consortium partner HS Kehl, which will be implemented in Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Senegal;
  • The availability of the NEEMA online Toolkit, designed to provide professors, policymakers and civil society organizations with a comprehensive set of tools on food and nutrition resilience developed by NEEMA’s experts and academic partners. The Toolbox is available through the following link: NEEMA Toolkit.
  • The organization of the Regional Policy Dialogue on the role of higher education institutions in addressing food and nutrition resilience challenges, which will take place on 8–9 December in Dakar (Senegal).

Beyond operational monitoring, the meeting provided an opportunity to assess the quality of the project’s implementation and measure progress towards its objectives. The leaders of the different work packages shared the challenges encountered, the good practices identified, and several recommendations aimed at further improving the implementation of the remaining activities.

This Steering Committee marks another important step in the collaborative dynamics of the NEEMA project and reaffirms the commitment of all partners to continue working together towards achieving the project’s objectives and ensuring the successful completion of all planned activities before the project’s closure.
