The University of Seville and Université Côte d’Azur launch a new Ulysseus Double Master’s Degree in Neuroscience

The University of Seville and Université Côte d’Azur signed on June 12 a new international double degree agreement in the field of Neurosciences, as part of the academic collaboration within Ulysseus European University. This initiative strengthens academic cooperation between both institutions and expands Ulysseus portfolio of integrated international programmes.

This double degree connects the Master Degree in Neurosciences at Université Côte d’Azur, coordinated by Jacques Barik, Jacques Noël, and Ingrid Bethus, with the University Master’s Degree in Physiology and Neurosciences at the University of Seville, coordinated by Pablo García Miranda.

Designed as a two-year academic pathway, the programme allows students to complete coursework at both institutions, combining complementary expertise in neuroscience research and training. Upon successful completion, graduates will be awarded two master’s degrees, one from each university.

Students enrolled in the programme will be able to enjoy an international study pathway, beginning their first academic year at the University of Seville, Spain and completing the second year at Université Côte d’Azur in Nice, France. This mobility scheme provides students with the opportunity to engage with diverse academic environments, research methodologies, and scientific communities, enhancing both their academic development, intercultural competencies and personal experiences.

Furthermore, this programme is closely aligned with the thematic priorities of the Ulysseus Innovation Hub on Ageing and Wellbeing, based at Université Côte d’Azur in Nice (France). The hub is dedicated to advancing and fostering innovative disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research aimed at deepening the understanding of ageing processes and their broader societal implications. Its areas of focus encompass key domains such as ageing in urban environments, the development of the silver economy, the impact of environmental factors on ageing and wellbeing, and the comprehensive study of the biological and social dimensions of ageing.

Strategic Impact within Ulysseus

This initiative forms part of the sustained and collaborative efforts undertaken by Ulysseus partner universities within the alliance to design and implement a shared academic portfolio, thereby contributing to the consolidation of a coherent and internationally integrated higher education framework.

In this context, the establishment of the double degree represents a substantive advancement in the alliance’s strategic objectives, further reinforcing its commitment to the European Commission to develop and fully operationalise eight double bachelor’s degrees and eight double master’s degrees prior to the project’s completion by October 2027.
