This course introduces students to the key concepts of culture and explains the meanings of intercultural awareness and sensitivity. Through self-paced learning and reflection, students will examine how cultural values and perspectives shape communication and interaction in diverse settings. The course highlights the impact and consequences of stereotyping. It also emphasizes the importance of inclusion and continuous learning in intercultural contexts.

 

This course is a flexible, self-paced learning experience available through the Moodle learning platform. Ulysseus students and staff members can access the course by logging in via this link.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and explain key concepts related to culture and intercultural awareness, and sensitivity
  • Reflect on their own cultural background as part of their identity
  • Apply intercultural competencies to support personal growth

Assessment

  • Tasks and exams can be repeated; the highest score is recorded in Moodle.

  • This course is open to all Ulysseus partner Universities and freely accessible. It is a self-paced standalone virtual course with an estimated workload of 27 hours (1 ECTS), which may be recognized by your home institution depending on their policies. Please consult your academic advisor or mobility coordinator for details.
