Ulysseus Students Shape the Student Ambassador and Buddy Programmes at a Mobility Workshop in Seville
Twenty-five students from across the Ulysseus Alliance gathered at the University of Seville for an intensive week of collaboration, innovation and intercultural exchange.
From 15 to 19 June 2026, the University of Seville hosted a short-term mobility workshop at the Faculty of Fine Arts, bringing together 25 students for 45 hours of intensive training, co-creation and international collaboration within the framework of the Ulysseus European University Alliance.
Designed as a highly participatory mobility experience, the workshop aimed to design, structure and consolidate the roles of Ulysseus Student Ambassadors and Buddy Programmes, empowering students to play an active role in shaping the future of mobility, inclusion and student engagement across Europe.
Throughout this five-day initiative, participants explored key topics including strategic communication, intercultural competencies, leadership, mentoring methodologies, sustainable mobility practices, project management and European citizenship.
Empowering Students as Ambassadors of Ulysseus
Through interactive discussions and collaborative activities, students studied the meaning and value of belonging to a European University alliance, reflected on the challenges and opportunities facing Europe from a student perspective, examined how they can contribute to shaping the future of European higher education, and learned how to transform innovative ideas into concrete projects capable of attracting institutional and financial support.
Additionally, they were trained in responsible digital communication and outreach, acquiring practical skills in storytelling, public speaking, presentation design and audiovisual production. A particular focus was placed on showcasing the values and opportunities offered by the Ulysseus Alliance through engaging presentations and authentic video testimonials.
A key highlight of the programme was the co-creation of practical guides and operational tools to support the implementation and enhancement of the Ulysseus Ambassador and Buddy programmes. These resources will help strengthen student integration while respecting the unique identity of each institution.
The event was led by Prof. Dr. Rocío Martínez de Pablos, Prof. Dr. Manuel Jesús Sabariego, Prof. Dr. David Montero, Prof. Dr. Adel Ben-Youssef, Prof. Juan Luis Blanco, Carmen Hinojosa, Rubén López, Elena Romera, Luis García, Julia Wolff and Bianca van Putten.
Beyond the classroom, participants enjoyed a rich cultural programme including city tours, a guided visit to the Real Alcázar of Seville, and an exclusive tour of the rooftops of the Church of the Annunciation, strengthening intercultural bonds and showcasing Seville’s remarkable heritage.
