Genoa welcomed the participants of Ulysseus Entre Camp 2026, driving creative thinking on Cultural Heritage
The 2026 edition was organised by the University of Genoa in the context of the Innovation Hub of Tourism and Heritage
From 8 to 12 June, the University of Genoa hosted the 2026 edition of Entre Camp, welcoming over 50 participants, including Master’s and PhD students, coaches from the partner Universities and testimonials from local partner institutions and businesses.
The 5-day intensive in-person programme offered a unique opportunity for students: divided into 6 teams from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, they co-created and developed innovative solutions, supported by expert coaches, to a real-world challenge proposed in partnership with the Directorate of Cultural Policies of the Municipality of Genoa, to enhance cultural heritage and tourism, creating value for the territory.

The Department of Economics and Business of the University of Genoa was the main venue for the programme. Located in the central Porto Antico area, it served as a starting point from where participants also visited the MEI National Museum of Italian Emigration and the Nervi Museums, which were the subjects of the challenge, discovering the historic and artistic heritage of the city.
In addition to teamwork and coaching sessions, the agenda included inspiring talks and interactive workshops. Furthermore, the participants enjoyed networking activities, organised also in cooperation with UlySA, the Ulysseus Student Association.
One of the highlights of the programme was the visit to the innovative technology and gaming center “Esplace” at Magazzini del Cotone, where participants gained valuable insights into entrepreneurship and sustainable business practices. They were welcomed by Filippo Costa, ICT R&I Corporate Advisor at Costa Edutainment, with the participation of Alberto Clavarino, President of Genova Startup Foundation, Nicola Canessa, President of Genova Smart City Association, and Matteo Tranchida, CEO of the local start-up TackPay.
On Friday 12 June, the teams presented their proposed solutions to representatives of the Directorate of Cultural Policies of the Municipality of Genoa (Giorgia Barzetti, MuMA Institution – MEI Museum; Luca Dellepiane, Directorate of Cultural Policies; Valeria Magliano, MuMA Institution; Federica Vinelli, Head of the Library sector) together with Riccardo Spinelli, University of Genoa, Department of Economics and Business.
The participants had the opportunity to visit also the UNESCO Heritage sites of the University of Genoa, the Galata Maritime Museum, the largest maritime museum in the Mediterranean, and the Strada Nuova Museums, which have recently gained a three-Michelin-star rating in the Voyages et Cultures guide, the highest level of recognition given to a destination.
