The imAGEin International Joint Master on the Biology of Ageing opens with its first cohort

Université Côte d’Azur, alongside partner universities across Europe, is proud to welcome the first cohort of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in the Biology of Ageing (imAGEin). This year, 21 students were selected from over 500 applicants to join the programme, kicking off with a Welcome Week held from 2 to 5 September in France.

Designed to educate the next generation of leading researchers, translational scientists, entrepreneurs and professionals in the biology of ageing, this innovative programme addresses one of the greatest societal challenges of our time: population ageing.

An innovative two-years joint Master programme

The imAGEin Master brings together the expertise of five leading European universities: Université Côte d’Azur (France); University of Cologne and CECAD (Germany); Sorbonne Université (France); University of Seville (Spain), and University of Coimbra (Portugal). The creation of this programme has also benefited from the strategic support of Ulysseus European University, whose commitment to excellence and international cooperation has been instrumental in making this joint Master a reality.

The launch of this first cohort marks the beginning of an exceptional academic adventure. Over two years, students receive a high-level education combining a solid foundation in the biology of ageing with advanced specialisation at partner institutions. The international dimension is strengthened by mandatory mobility between at least two countries, ensuring that each student spends a minimum of one semester (30 ECTS) abroad while benefiting from the local expertise of each university.

Addressing the global challenge of ageing

Demographic and economic trends position the biology of ageing as a major challenge for modern scientific research. The imAGEin Master aims to advance this field by developing innovative and sustainable solutions to improve healthspan and reduce the socio-economic impact of ageing populations worldwide.
