Preparing for Going Abroad through Virtual Reality

The RIGO Virtual Reality Prototype Platform was developed within an EU-funded research project to explore how VR technology can support the preparation of students and academic staff for international mobility. The outcome is a prototype platform that can be accessed via a standard web browser or through VR headsets.

By experiencing the RIGO prototype, users can explore realistic mobility scenarios and acquire essential skills and information for going abroad. The VR environments address social, cultural, linguistic, and psychological challenges, allowing users to train and reflect on their international experience in a safe, immersive setting.

For educators, the platform offers insight into how pedagogical challenges related to mobility preparation can be addressed through VR-based learning. For academic staff working in international offices, communication, or marketing, the prototype demonstrates how administrative support, institutional culture, and the atmosphere of a place can be conveyed in an immersive and engaging way.

Click the “RIGO VR Experience” button above to access the platform online. You may enter either as a guest or by registering. Registration enables additional features, including progress tracking and extended interaction options.

In the lobby, users can customize their avatar, receive guidance on how to navigate the VR experience, and access the themed levels. Each level focuses on specific skills relevant to international mobility.

Once logged in (as a guest or registered user), the VR levels can be accessed directly from the lobby via the tunnel links, the Menu (as pictured below), or directly through the links provided below.
