Ulysseus English Beginner 1

This self-paced course will give users an introduction to the English language.  If you want to learn English, but don’t know more than a few words of it, you’re in the right place. 
 
This course follows our protagonist, Ana Vazquez, as she gets ready for and then attends an international conference in London.  Along the way, Ana will meet many people and learn many new things, and you can learn along with her.  By the end of this course, you will be able to do everything Ana can do–including introducing herself, checking in at a hotel, ordering food, and asking for and sharing basic information about herself.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to: 

  • communicate in basic, everyday situations  
  • use simple structures in both written and spoken English 
  • request and offer personal information  

Course Content

  • Grammar: present simple of the verb be, subject pronouns, possessive adjectives, plural and singular nouns, imperatives and let’s for suggestions, present simple & verb phrases 
  • Vocabulary: the days of the week, months, numbers 0-100, continents, countries, nationalities, the alphabet, things, clothes, adjectives, colors, feelings, the airport 
  • Communicative Goals: basic greetings in English, giving and asking for personal information, checking in at a hotel/the airport, ordering food and drinks
