Ulysseus Will Celebrate Five Years of European Collaboration at the Košice Week
From 20 to 24 October 2025, the Technical University of Košice (TUKE) will host Ulysseus Košice Week, the alliance’s flagship multi-event of the year. Bringing together twenty activities across five days, the event will coincide with the 5th anniversary of Ulysseus European University, turning Košice into a hub of innovation, research, and civic engagement.
At the heart of the programme will be Ulysseus Summit 2025, the alliance’s high-level governance gathering. Leaders, taskforces, and thematic groups will meet to align strategies for Ulysseus’ second phase, ensuring policies reflect the alliance’s long-term goals. Alongside, ten project sessions, student assemblies, and workshops will strengthen internal collaboration, while a series of public events will open the celebration to the broader community.
Four flagship events will highlight the week’s public-facing dimension. The Ulysseus R&I Conference – Navigating Pathways: Digital Transformation of Industry and the Ulysseus Innovation Hub Presentation at TUKE will explore cutting-edge research and collaboration in the digital transformation of industry. The Inclusion in Action Forum will spotlight how universities can bridge academia and society by embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into education and research. Meanwhile, the Creative Playgrounds Art-and-Science Event will bring together artists, scientists, and technologists to showcase the intersections of creativity, interactivity, and interdisciplinarity.
Workshops will add depth to the agenda. Beyond Borders: Equipping Educators for a Globally Connected Campus will prepare teachers for an increasingly internationalised higher education landscape. Another key session, Setting Standards for Enhancing Universities’ Reputation and Attractiveness Across the Ulysseus European University, will address the challenge of attracting and managing talent in academia. Participants will consider how frameworks like HRS4R and the HR Excellence Logo foster institutional change, while also discussing evolving research assessment practices promoted by the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). Targeted at researchers, managers, and administrative staff from Ulysseus partner universities, the workshop will underline how talent strategies influence both institutional visibility and researcher well-being.
Students will also play a central role. The UlySA Bootcamp, a five-day mobility camp, will unite students from across the alliance to deepen their intercultural understanding and strengthen their role in shaping European higher education. At the same time, the international outreach event A New Way to Experience University Life will engage secondary school students in Slovakia and abroad, sparking early interest in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Founded in 1952, TUKE is Slovakia’s largest technical university, with over 12,000 students across nine faculties. As a founding member of Ulysseus since 2020, it will showcase both its heritage and forward-looking spirit during the anniversary week. By the close of October, Ulysseus Košice Week will not only celebrate five years of collaboration but also signal new directions for the future of European higher education.
