Webinar: Human-centric AI and its applications

On 21 April at 1 pm CET, Ulysseus Artificial Intelligence Innovation Hub, based at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, will host the webinar titled “Human-Centric Artificial Intelligence and its applications”. At this webinar Stephan Schögl, Tuomas Varanka, Himanshu Sahni and Heli Kortesalmi will discuss about different topics on the interaction of users and artificial intelligence (AI) such as social machines, human emotion recognition and machine learning for digitalisation in education and research, among others.

Intro

Ulysseus European University is launching a brand new series of webinars on key regional and local challenges.

These are part of the calendar of activities of “COMPASS: Leading Ulysseus to become a European University excellence model through Research and Innovation”, a Horizon 2020 project of Ulysseus and the flagship for its R&I agenda and strategy.

Organised by Ulysseus Innovation Hubs, these webinars will bring together experts from academia, industry and NGO’s, among other organisations to discuss key regional and local challenges.

About “Human-Centric AI and its applications”

This webinar focuses on the interaction of users and artificial intelligence (AI). Human-Centric AI emphases cognitive, emotional and social aspects of human interaction when using AI applications. Existing AI applications are able to detect human emotions derived from images or videos. Although machines, such as AI applications are often considered as unsocial devices, they are, however, able to provide increased social signals and socially oriented behaviour.

Most AI applications represent low-level intelligence and biased data-sets which, among other limitations, might cause discrimination, biased recommendations and misinterpretations. Thus, there is increasing discussion about the ethics of AI and the ethical use of AI in both education and businesses. Despite the challenges, there are also more opportunities to create useful AI applications by using ready-made components and services and open-source solutions. This webinar will deal with the aforementioned topics.

Panel of experts
