Participatory methods, accessibility and inclusion

Participatory methods, accessibility and inclusion

This workshop explores the dynamic role of participatory methods in research and educational contexts. By integrating innovative methodological approaches and critical inquiry, the event aims to advance Ulysseus’ vision of a truly inclusive European University. Emphasising diversity as a fundamental asset, the workshop promotes fair participation and fosters collaborative partnerships that connect academic institutions with society at large.

The workshop will focus on how participatory and inclusive methods can challenge established hierarchies of knowledge production, embrace a plurality of expertise, and actively involve underrepresented or marginalised groups throughout research and educational processes. This approach not only democratises knowledge but also enriches outcomes by incorporating perspectives often overlooked in conventional settings.

Speakers will show how participatory, accessible and inclusive methods can:

  • advance diversity and inclusion within research methodologies and pedagogical practices
  • strengthen community engagement and encourage reciprocal knowledge exchange
  • facilitate co-creation of knowledge with local communities and diverse stakeholders
  • drive institutional transformation by embedding inclusive and democratic practices into university structures and cultures
