M4C – Child safety policy

Effective 01-01-2021

1. Purpose

Our platform connects researchers, scholars, and professionals to share findings, discuss ideas, and collaborate on projects. Because scientific discourse can attract users of any age, we commit to protecting children (persons under 13 years old, or the age of digital‑consent in the user’s jurisdiction) from inappropriate content and interactions.

2. Age restrictions

Standard accounts require a minimum age of 13 years to comply with GDPR-children. Account creation requires the ownership of an institutional email from one of Ulysseus members which typically implies adult status. Invites can be created by members but are usually used toward adult colleagues.

3. Reporting

Every post includes a “Report” button. Reports are routed to moderators.

A dedicated moderation team reviews flagged content within 24 hours.

Severe violations (e.g., grooming, threats) are escalated to law‑enforcement where required by law.

4. Contact and support

Ulysseus partners are the controllers of child safety. This means that Ulysseus European University alliance determines the way child safety should be handled on the Match4Cooperation application. Each Ulysseus member institution is a co-controller of child safety.

A dedicated email address can be reached in case of suspected breach of child safety: m4c-abuse@ulysseus.eu

General digital support: digitalplatform@ulysseus.eu

General Ulysseus related support: hello@ulysseus.eu

5. Review and update

This policy is reviewed annually or whenever significant feature changes occur. Updates are posted on this page and communicated to all users via in‑app notification.
