Double Master’s degree in Biotechnology

Medical-Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

About this Master

The Double Degree program “Medical-Pharmaceutical Biotechnology” is based on a two-year (4-semester) curriculum: Double Degree students spend the first year studying at their home institution, and the second year at the host institution, where they complete their Master thesis. Courses are taught in English. Students combine medical and pharmaceutical topics with biotechnology, and gain valuable experience abroad.

The main objective of the program is to train students in the field of medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology, which focusses on research at the molecular basis of diseases and the development of modern therapies such as gene and cell therapy or the production and analysis of recombinant protein drugs, monoclonal antibodies and biosimilars. Moreover, the program aims to improve students’ capacity to study, work and live in a multicultural environment.

Students will gain interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of molecular biology, biochemistry, recombinant DNA techniques in combination with medical biotechnological topics such as stem cell biology, molecular oncology, neurobiology, immunology and endocrinology. These topics are complemented by advanced pharmaceutical technology including the specific technical and regulatory issues dedicated to the research, development and monitoring of innovative drugs and therapies in a globalized market.
