“This meeting marks the beginning of the Ulysseus’ Executing Phase,” highlighted Miguel Ángel Castro, Rector of the University of Seville (coordinating university) and Chair of the Governing Council, in his words of welcome.
“Our Governing Council is very wide and participative, including members of the universities communities and our associated partners.” Castro also expressed his gratitude to the members for accepting the responsibility of being part of this Council, the ultimate decision-making authority of Ulysseus European University.
The Ulysseus Governing Council is made up of 40 members — 20 men and 20 women. “We will work hard to keep this gender-balance in all our boards and activities whenever it’s possible,” Castro added.
“It is extremely impressive to hear how much we have achieved during these months,” said Kokko Teemu, President of the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. “It was a real pleasure for me to hear about the progress of our project,” expressed Jeanick Brisswalter, President of the Université Côte d’Azur.
“I’m convinced that at the end of our journey we will have a great Europe,” added Nicoletta Dacrema, on behalf of the University of Genoa. Andreas Altmann, Rector of MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®, also thanked the Ulysseus team for the efforts done: “We are so excited to see all these people from different institutions working together.”
“I believe that soon we shall have the opportunity to meet each other face to face,” wished Stanislav Kmeť, Rector of the Technical University of Košice.
Ulysseus General Coordinator Carmen Vargas also had the opportunity to present a summary of the Ulysseus Planning Phase and the Ulysseus 2021 Activity Plan. “This Governing Council meeting really makes the end of the planning phase and the start of the executive phase,” Vargas remarked. “Later on, on May 11, we will hold an Open Event for the dissemination of our Innovation Hubs.”
