Transformation Plan for AI Living Labs

As part of the Erasmus+ research project and Ulysseus European University Alliance, ALFA Labs is a forward-thinking initiative dedicated to accelerating digital transformation and AI integration in higher education. The project brings together four leading universities and four associate partners within the Ulysseus network to build future-ready learning ecosystems.

At its core, ALFA Labs empowers institutions to strengthen their digital capacity and actively shape the transition to AI-supported teaching and learning. Through a strong focus on collaboration and co-creation, the project drives innovation in digital education across Europe.

Key objectives at a glance:

• Development of a strategic Digital Transformation Plan (DTP) and digital assessment tools

• Creation of AI-supported lesson plans based on the outcomes of the Living Labs
• Co-creation of the ALFA Kit – a practical roadmap to enhance institutional digital skills

One of the project’s highlights is a 3 ECTS MOOC, which aims to enable the use of AI as an accessible and assistive tool for teaching and learning. This open online course offers both educators and students across Europe the opportunity to boost their AI literacy.

With a clear emphasis on scalability, sustainability and co-creation, the outcomes of ALFA Labs will be made available through the Ulysseus Innovation Hubs and an open-access platform – supporting long-term impact for educational institutions and policy frameworks alike.

By aligning with the EU AI Act and the European Skills Agenda, ALFA Labs positions itself at the forefront of digital innovation, promoting responsible AI use and future-ready education throughout Europe.
