Ulysseus Sustainable Design Thinking

Sustainable Design Thinking integrates sustainability into every phase of the design process. This approach not only addresses specific problems and solutions but also considers team composition, working methods, environment optimization, and material selection.

The course is self-paced with weekly assignments. The first four weeks focus on individual learning assignments, followed by four weeks of team-based work on a real-life challenge.

The course is co-created together with Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and University of Münster.

  • Team and skill composition for socio-ecological transformations
  • Understanding the bigger picture: living amidst multiple crises (macro perspective)
  • Understanding the human factor: how do we relate to environmental problems (micro perspective)
  • Applying Design Thinking tools to real-world sustainability challenges
  • Design thinking process and tools
  • Gaining customer understanding, prototype development and experimenting.
