European Researchers’ Night 2021
On 24 September 2021, Ulysseus held a series of video-interviews with six Ulysseus scientists on circular economy, climate change, green transition, renewable energy and waste management all of them, closely related to the European Green Deal.

 

The European Researchers’ Night — an annual event coordinated by Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) which aims at bringing research and researchers closer to the public and to showcase the impact of their work on people’s daily life. The initiative will combine face-to-face and online activities celebrated across 371 cities in Europe.

Principal lecturer of Corporate Responsibility at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland.

She has over ten years of practical industry experience from consulting in sustainability management, especially in the electronics sector. She has worked with a number of multinational clients prior to joining Haaga-Helia and is currently active in public-private partnerships at the University. She is a seasoned facilitator and promoter of experiential learning. She has robust international experience both from living and working abroad. Her areas of interest and expertise are corporate responsibility, sustainability marketing and communication, strategic CSR and environmental management.

Expert in biotechnology and food engineering at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI).

He obtained his PhD from the University of Innsbruck, Austria (June, 2018) in optimizing waste management systems. Since 2014, he works with insects, by investigating the potential of Hermetia illucens for waste valorization. He was co-applicant of the FWF project P 26444-B22 “Waste products as a source of protein-rich feedstuff”, where he is substantially involved in project administration as well as in research. In the course of project P 26444-B22, he is cooperating with national partners (the Department of Microbiology, the Department of Sociology and the Department of Environmental Engineering at the University of Innsbruck and the INSECTORY GmbH in Vienna) as well as international ones (the Ulm University in Germany and the The State University of Santa Cruz in Brazil).

Dr. Martina Zeleňáková

Full professor at the Institute of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Košice in Slovakia.

Her research is focused on water management, environmental impact assessment, and mainly environmental risks assessment in river basins in relation to flood events, erosion and water pollution. The results of her work have been published in national and international journals and scientific conference proceedings. Additionally, she has successfully led projects and has been involved in successful research teams.

Dr. Adel Ben Youssef

Lecturer at the Université Côte d’Azur and a member of the CNRS research laboratory

Adel is doctor of economics and professor of economics, digital economics and environment. He is a lecturer at the Université Côte d’Azur and a member of the CNRS research laboratory. He teaches at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management and has published over 80 academic papers in different international academic journals. Dr. Adel Ben Youssef is an international expert in climate change, environment and the circular economy for many international institutions. His areas of expertise include climate policies, Industry 4.0, Energy transition and Climate finance.

Dr. Paolo Piccardo

Associate Professor at Universitá di Genova.

He coordinates the research group on Materials and Metallurgy where he leads research activities on fuel cells, hydrogen technology and Li-ion batteries. His experience in the field of renewable clean energies and energy storage started in 2006 by actively participating in the EU project Ideal Cell. He is actively involved in dissemination and public engagement activities aiming at raising awareness on the importance of present and future choices in matter of energy and environment.

Dr. Daniel Coq Huelva

Full Professor at the University of Seville

He lectures and researches at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and at the Instituto de Estudios sobre América Latina (IEAL) of this university. His prevalent topics of research are focused on urban economy as well as agrarian and agri-food sector particularly in Spain and also in some Latin American Countries, as Chile, México or Ecuador. In urban research, his analyses are focused on the effects of speculation on housing prices and on actually existing conditions of habitability.
