Ulysseus European University is launching COMPASS Insights, a series of webinars on key regional and local challenges.

These are part of the calendar of activities of “COMPASS: Leading Ulysseus to become a European University excellence model through Research and Innovation”, a Horizon 2020 project of Ulysseus and the flagship for its R&I agenda and strategy.

Organised by Ulysseus Innovation Hubs, these webinars will bring together experts from academia, industry and NGO’s, among other organisations to discuss key regional and local challenges.

Dr. Ilija Moric is an assistant professor at Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, University of Montenegro. He finished his master studies at Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, followed by his PhD studies at Faculty of Economics, where he defended his thesis: “Marketing aspect of rural tourism development: Case of Montenegro”. His main areas of teaching and research are: Social Impacts of Tourism, Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Social Responsibility, and Hotel Management. Apart from scientific research, he has made certain results as entrepreneur in sector of organic production and development of tourism products.

Bio

Lisa Scharinger is working for AMAG Group, an international company for Aluminium Recycling, as an environmental and Energy Manager since 2022.  She was born in Burghausen, Germany in 1997. After technical college at the HTL Braunau (AUT) she started the bachelor’s degree ‘Biotechnology & Food Engineering’ in 2016 at MCI – The Entrepreneurial School® (AUT). In 2021 she graduated her master’s degree in ‘Biotechnology’ also at the MCI and wrote her master’s thesis in collaboration with Wacker Chemie AG. In her position at AMAG she is not only focused on environmental and energy management but also on LCA calculation, challenges on REACH and being part of different sustainability projects for example regarding the EU Taxonomy regulation. AMAG Austria Metall AG produces high-quality semi-finished aluminium products and components as well as primary aluminium. The company combines recycling and innovation with top product quality, efficient production as well as a broad product portfolio.

Dominik Kornthaler is working as a consultant, course leader and trainer in the fields of sustainability and waste management. He hold a degree in Biology at the Universität Innsbruck (AUT), as well as an eMBA at the Californian Lutheran University (USA). He gathered work experience in the academic, industrial and non-profit sector, and was involved in many national and international projects related to the topics ‘Circular Economy‘, ‘Waste Management‘ and ‘Sustainability‘. He is raising awareness for these topics since more than 10 years by informing and teaching in front of citizens of all ages: “Learning from mistakes and growing from them is the basis of all success!”.
