Help shaping Ulysseus
The academic community within Ulysseus plays a vital role in shaping its diverse academic offerings. Faculty from partner universities actively collaborate to design and deliver joint courses, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), MOOCs, and short courses, ensuring a dynamic curriculum tailored to diverse learner needs. Ulysseus allows students to expand their knowledge, acquire new skills, and participate in international learning experiences.
BIPs, for instance, combine virtual and physical mobility, bringing students from various fields together to tackle global and societal challenges through collaborative, challenge-based learning. These intensive programmes offer unique, multi-annual learning experiences not found in traditional curricula, enabling inclusive, flexible study options for students of all backgrounds and disciplines across Europe.

Research & Innovate
Towards a model of excellence in Europe
The Ulysseus alliance places a strong emphasis on Research and Innovation (R&I), aiming to become a model of excellence in Europe by fostering collaboration among its partner institutions. By bringing together eight universities from across Europe—each with its unique strengths and expertise—Ulysseus aims to create a unified ecosystem that drives impactful research and innovation. This collaborative environment is centered around eight Innovation Hubs, each dedicated to addressing critical societal challenges, such as aging and wellbeing, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. These hubs serve as platforms for interdisciplinary and transnational teams to work on regionally prioritized issues, ensuring that research outcomes are relevant and beneficial to local and regional communities.
Ulysseus’s integrated R&I strategy is built on four core objectives: identifying institutional synergies, maximizing research capacity, adopting a trans-disciplinary approach, and aligning activities with regional priorities. The alliance actively promotes inclusivity and international cooperation by organizing diverse activities, including researchers’ days, webinars, and seminars, which facilitate knowledge exchange and foster innovation.
