Ulysseus unveils the Innovation Hub for Socio-Ecological Sustainability and hosts the “Sustainable Innovations” conference
The three-day event brings together researchers, educators, policymakers, innovators, and startups from across Europe. Participants will engage in discussions, workshops, and networking sessions to drive sustainable solutions.
From October 28 to 30, 2024, the University of Münster, will host “Navigating Pathways to a Sustainable Future.” This pivotal program marks the inauguration of the Innovation Hub for Socio-Ecological Sustainability and features the Research & Innovation Conference “Sustainable Innovations.” The event aims to foster innovative, interdisciplinary solutions to address today’s pressing socio-ecological challenges, uniting researchers, educators, policymakers, and startups from Ulysseus European University.
On October 28 and 29, the University of Münster will formally introduce the Innovation Hub (IH) for Socio-Ecological Sustainability. This two-day interactive event will present the Hub’s mission to bridge academic research, real-world applications, and policymaking, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration across Ulysseus European University’s network.
Participants will gain insight into the Hub’s long-term vision and development plans, with key presentations from sustainability experts, including Vice-Rector Prof. Michael Quante. Highlighting the importance of Ulysseus for the University of Münster, Prof. Quante remarked, “By implementing Ulysseus at the University of Münster, we are bringing our responsibility for European values to life.” His words underscored the University’s commitment to fostering a collaborative, value-driven approach to sustainability across Europe.
Discussions will explore the Real-World Lab approach, emphasizing the use of transdisciplinary practices to address global sustainability issues. Additionally, on October 29, a series of immersive activities will take place at Münster Electrochemical Energy Technology (MEET), with practical sessions focusing on the transfer of sustainability knowledge from academia to real-world applications. Participants will also explore cutting-edge facilities during guided lab visits and some activities to foster continued partnership-building.
The “Sustainable Innovations” Conference
The event culminates on October 30 with the Research & Innovation Conference “Sustainable Innovations,” a full-day forum dedicated to advancing sustainability solutions. With three thematic tracks— Environmental Ecosystems, Sustainability & Technology, and Sustainable Education—the conference will explore the intricate connections between human societies and the ecological systems they depend on.
Attendees will engage in hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and parallel sessions covering topics such as environmental ecosystems, sustainable education, and the role of emerging technologies in sustainability efforts. Presentations will spotlight innovations, from AI-driven sustainability tools to marine tourism and global health.
This event series positions Ulysseus European University and the University of Münster at the forefront of socio-ecological innovation, emphasizing their commitment to sustainability research, education, and real-world impact.
