About visa
Depending on your nationality or your country of residence, the entry requirements and regulations for each country may be different. Anyone planning to study abroad should find out about visas and other regulations in the official website of the Ministry of foreign, European Union and Cooperation of Spain since it is the first country in which you will start your studies Servicios consulares (exteriores.gob.es).
- Citizens of one of the EU countries don’t need a visa to study and live in Spain. However, you need to apply for a residence permit at the Central Registry Office for Foreigners within three months of arrival.
- Citizens of Norway, Switzerland, Iceland or Liechtenstein don’t need a visa but you need to apply for a residence in the same way citizens of EU countries do.
- Non-EU students need a visa to study and live in Spain According to the Directive (EU) 2016/8011 that all EU Member States had to transpose into their national legislation. Students who hold a valid residence permit issued by a Member State and who are covered by a union or multilateral programme that comprises mobility measures or by an agreement between two or more higher education institutions are allowed to enter and stay in one or more EU member countries in order to carry out part of their studies in a higher education institution for a period up to 360 days, subject to the conditions laid down in Directive (EU) 2016/801. Applying this legislation to UlysseusCitiesMD students, it means that students coming from non-EU countries should apply for a visa in Spain, since the first semester will take place at USE for all students. This should be done in time because the process could take up to three months.
You can find all the necessary information about visa and residence requirements for any country at the following link. Inmigration Portal
Please note there are divergences in the services offered by the International Offices and by the Student Support staff of partner institutions regarding visa applications. Please consult the information provided for incoming exchange students on the relevant institutional websites as soon as you start preparing your mobility period.
About accomodation
Finding accommodation is not an easy task and not all universities offer accommodation to incoming students, so it is highly recommended to arrange it as soon as possible. The University of Seville has the Service for Assistance to the University Community (SACU) that offers members of the University Community, pre-university students and other related groups, personalised attention to provide information, guidance and advice on matters related to university life at the University of Seville. There you will also find relevant information about your pre-arrival preparations.
As the University of Seville is the single entrance university in semester 1, it could be a good option to contact a student residence in Seville and the surroundings.
If you are interested in a university residence hall you can contact directly with SACU through this email sacualojamiento@us.es. They will provide you with all the information you need to apply for this type of accommodation.
Renting a room is also an economical option to consider. For this reason, the University of Seville, through SACU, has elaborated a database of more than 1000 rooms available for students in Seville. For more detailed information about accomodation please consult the Welcome Guides you can find in the section above: Ulysseus Welcome Guide.
