Who we are

Ulysseus Alliance includes eight diverse universities, solidly involved in the development of their regions and cities:

  • Five comprehensive universities, the University of Seville, Université Côte d’Azur, the University of Genoa; the University of Münster; and the University of Montenegro;
  • One technical university, the Technical University of Kosice;
  • Two universities of applied sciences, Management Center Innsbruck and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences;

From the oldest to the youngest, from the largest to the smallest in number of students, from comprehensive to specialized business and technical Universities, from established, research-based Universities, to experts in entrepreneurship and pedagogical innovation.

Member Universities

Ulysseus is a diverse and geographically balanced alliance, uniting universities from Northern, Western, Central, Eastern, and Southern Europe. With partners from Finland, France, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Montenegro, Spain, and Italy, Ulysseus integrates all four European regions. As a growing and open alliance, it welcomes new higher education institutions as full or associated partners.

Ulysseus is committed to fostering a multilingual, multicultural environment, with universities across cities selected for the EU «Climate Neutral & Smart Cities» mission. With a presence in regions of varying economic growth and innovation, the alliance strives to bridge regional innovation gaps while promoting education, research, and innovation to address global challenges.

 

University of Seville (USE)

USE is a historic university, the second largest in Spain in number of students, with a relevant and robust comprehensive formation, internationally recognized for its academic excellence, research and technology transfer background. USE ranks 8th in scientific production and 1st in international patents in Spain. USE provides strong expertise in coordinating European consortia.

Université Côte d’Azur (UNICA)

UCA is a research-intensive university relying on a strong cluster of Higher Education and research institutions. In 2016, Côte d’Azur won a prestigious “IDEX” award, placing it among the top 10 world-class, comprehensive universities in France. UCA provides its own experience of transforming a campus.

 

University of Genova (UniGe)

UniGe is one of the largest universities in Italy. It is defined by its high-level multidisciplinary, multinational educational pathways, its research projects and innovation activities, and its active technological transfer. UniGe provides long-standing expertise in social cohesion and public engagement empowerment.

Technical University of Košice (TUKE)

TUKE closely co-operates with private sector and industrial organizations throughout the region and it is a leading institution in the field of regional development. Its strong background with multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to global problems solving are key contributions of TUKE to the consortium.

MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®

MCI® follows the concept of an Entrepreneurial School covering Higher Education, research and transfer into practice for management, society, technology and life sciences. MCI empowers motivated people to achieve outstanding performance, provides profound academic competence and creates innovative know-how transfer within a strong international network.

Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences (Haaga-Helia)

Haaga-Helia is a strongly business-orientated University of Applied Sciences that focuses on co-operation, entrepreneurship, innovation and internationality. Haaga-Helia’s strategic core areas corresponding to the needs of business life are: Business Development, Entrepreneurship, Experiential Service Innovation, Value through Sales, New Emerging Technology and Transformative Pedagogy.

University of Münster

As one of the largest German comprehensive universities and looking back on a 250-year tradition, the University of Münster is internationally recognized for its top-level research, excels in how it trains its early-career researchers, and is particularly attractive for students due to its profile of researchbased teaching.

University of Montenegro (UCG)

UCG is the biggest and only public University of Montenegro, with the aim to create and spread knowledge through its excellence in education, science, and achievements to improve international cooperation, to create successful and socially responsible university graduates, and to promote the democratic and sustainable development of Montenegrin society and state.

Ulysseus travel partners

The Ulysseus Alliance aims to create a vibrant community where universities, regional authorities, businesses, and citizens collaborate to drive regional development and shape the future of European higher education and research. Built on the strengths of its eight partner universities, Ulysseus aligns with regional smart specialization strategies and global challenges, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the EU’s Green and Digital Transitions.

With the support of 152 associated partners, including governments, businesses, NGOs, and student associations, Ulysseus fosters a strong network of collaboration. The Alliance remains open to welcoming new partners who can contribute to its mission and goals in the future.
