Ulysseus strengthens its cooperation in its first in person meeting taking place in Innsbruck

Ulysseus’ ambitious ten-year journey that will contribute to shaping the European Research and Education Areas, and thus, the future of Europe, has been boosted during this week in an international meeting in Innsbruck, city of MCI, The Entrepreneurial School®, one of the six partner universities of Ulysseus.

On Tuesday the members of the alliance led by the rectors of MCI, The Entrepreneurial School®, and the University of Seville were welcomed by the Mayor of Innsbruck in an act that marked the starting point of the agenda for these days, in which Ulysseus partner universities will discuss the progress made since the start of their journey, review their outcomes and strengthen its cooperation even more.

Mobility meetings

Meetings have been taking place at the Joint International Center (IC), based at MCI, The Entreprenurial School®, Innsbruck, and mobility has been one of the key topics under discussion within this week’s agenda. As an open to the world model of University, mobility is central to Ulysseus. The alliance encompasses more than 182.000 students, academics and non-academic staff and its aim is that, in the first three years, 100.000 persons experience physical, virtual, blended, short and long-term mobility. By 2030, over 200.000 people will have had a virtual or in-person international learning experience within the Ulysseus alliance.

Ulysseus have been working during the last year on the Mobility Programmes, including a Green Deal Mobility Scheme for climate protection, the Welcome programme, and the implementation of the European Student Card. The alliance is also developing the Ulysseus International Cooperation and Promotion programmes – including targeted collaboration with strategic international partners.

After almost a year of planning and cooperation, discussions have touched upon topics such as the strengths and weaknesses of the institutions, the solutions to boost mobility or the necessary steps for the implementation of the Ulysseus student mobility journey.

The purpose of Ulysseus is to provide steady in-person and virtual mobility with automatic recognition and the massive use of the European Student Card, as well as an intense international activity to make Ulysseus a good practices model and an attractive and competitive European University.

COMPASS

COMPASS has also lead parallel working meetings in Innsbruck with the aim to develop a strategy and concrete action plan in order to position Ulysseus as an institutional transformation model at research and innovation level.

COMPASS is a Horizon 2020 project and the flagship for Ulysseus Research and Innovation agenda and strategy. Its overall objective is to build upon Ulysseus long-term joint strategic vision to become a model of excellence for research and innovation. The alliance is hence working on the next steps about the global strategy, the Research and Innovation agenda and the key role of the innovation hubs, among others
