BIP Digital Innovation Strategies for Cultural Heritage

The BIP “Digital Innovation Strategies for Cultural Heritage” develops knowledge in master students to understand and manage the digital innovation process for cultural heritage.

It increases synergies and network to enhance professional competences and skills, drawing a relationship among students, professionals and companies. Learning activities focus on the role of technologies and include business models, analysis and application in the context of cultural and creative organisations; communication strategies and tools, effective audience engagement and case studies.

Through a participatory approach, students develop also a project work activity.

The online part of this course will go from Monday, 27 May – Friday, 14 June 2024; Monday, 24 June – Friday, 12 July 2024.

BIP Digital Innovation Strategies for Cultural Heritage

Learning outcomes

The BIP responds to a growing demand for qualified experts of digital technologies applied to the cultural heritage field. These professionals will be able to combine interdisciplinary skills in the cultural, artistic, economic and digital fields.

Course content

The BIP is focused on digital innovation and its revolutionary impact applied to cultural heritage, approaching the following topics:

  • Business models and strategies.
    Economics, management and ICT for cultural heritage and creative industries.
    Business models, management tools and innovative managerial practices for cultural heritage based on hybrid and digital strategies.
  • Digital technologies for cultural heritage.
    The most innovative technologies and their application to cultural heritage: from web design to IoT, from augmented reality to AI.
  • Communication strategy and audience engagement.
    Communication strategy and digital tools for the promotion and marketing of cultural heritage and activities in the cultural field. Analysis of cultural projects, websites, social networks and other communication tools.
  • Project work activity.
    Students will develop, individually or in a group, a digitalisation project about cultural heritage, cultural activities and tourism. The expected output includes: a graphic or multimedia presentation and a descriptive text to illustrate purposes, contents, implementation methods, technologies used and benefits of the project in terms of economic, social and territorial impact.

In addition, the programme will offer educational visits to museums and other culturally relevant institutions and places.

Expected Skills

The training course offers knowledge and managerial skills to undergraduates and graduates in the economics, engineering, humanities, interested in attending an innovative training in the cultural heritage field.
The participants will have the opportunity to enhance interdisciplinary skills applied to cultural heritage, focusing on:
