This BIP offers the students an opportunity to dive into intercultural communication and cultural theories and to work on a relocation services case in an international student group. In addition, sales
pitches and poster presentations will be included. Main topics: collaboration, intercultural communication, problem solving, critical thinking, sales pitches, presentations.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive Workshops: Dive into intercultural communication and
    cultural theory through a Zoom session, setting the stage for the
    program. Followed by intensive onsite collaborations and teamwork
    in unique settings.
  • Real-world Application: Work on a relocation services case,
    brainstorm and create a relocation plan, and present it in a business
    forum meeting.
  • Cultural Immersion: Explore Finnish culture through visits to
    landmarks like Suomenlinna Sea Fortress and engage in recreational
    activities.
  • Assessment: Showcase your skills through graded deliverables – a
    poster and a sales pitch in groups.

Agenda

Day 1-2

  • Kick-off Zoom Session: Team Building and Hofstede’s Country
    Comparison
  • On-site Day 1: Team building, Cultural fair, Lecture on relocation, and
    team organization
  • On-site Day 2: Ideation of relocation plan with Lab 8 tools

Day 3-4

  • On-site Day 3: Pitching Workshop, Sales Lab, Escape room and
    recreational activities
  • On-site Day 4: Coaching for confident presenters, final touch-ups,
    and Suomenlinna visit, recreational activities
  • On-site Day 5: Business Forum – Present your posters and sales
    pitches, ending the week with afternoon cultural activities and
    recreational activities.

Assignments

Team assignment: Developing Accessible Tourism, written report (50%)
The course will include a team assignment (a written report) to be submitted within the 20th June and a team assignment (solving a case/presentation) to prepare during the on-site period.
The first team assignment is related to a case of best practice on accessibility in natural parks around the world. The team composed with 4 students has to write a report following the given template (we will furnish the template)
The second team assignment consists of a study on a topic presented during the stay in Imperia by the involved stakeholders. The team will present the study and the obtained results in the last of the course.
